Truist names Boland, Sameer and Warner to top roles as consumer banking chief Dontá Wilson exits
Truist is reshuffling its consumer and small-business leadership bench as it pushes a simpler growth agenda under CEO Mike Lyons.
In an 8-K and press release Friday, the bank said Dontá L. Wilson, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Consumer and Small Business Banking Officer, will leave Truist effective Dec. 31, 2026. Wilson is entitled to benefits for an involuntary separation not for cause under terms previously disclosed in the 2026 proxy, subject to a release of claims and restrictive covenants, according to the 8-K.
Truist named D. Steve Boland vice chair, working across the company on strategic priorities. Boland previously was chief administrative officer at Bank of America and earlier president of Retail Banking there before retiring in 2025, the press release said.
Shimna Sameer, previously announced as the incoming head of Truist Wealth, will become chief consumer banking officer. Sameer spent more than 20 years at Bank of America in consumer banking, wealth and private banking roles. Jeff Warner will join as chief small business banking officer from PNC, where he most recently led small business. Boland, Sameer and Warner will report to Lyons.
Jeff Dunn and Bryan Cram will act as interim co-heads of Truist Wealth, reporting to Chief Wholesale Banking Officer Kristin Lesher, the release said.
Lyons said in the release that the appointments aim to ensure “leadership depth, organization structure and accountability to execute with discipline.”
