State Street Q3 2026 earnings: EPS rises 33% to $3.69 on record servicing and management fees
State Street earned $3.69 a share in the third quarter, up 33% from $2.78 a year earlier, as record servicing and management fees combined with a 21% jump in net interest income, the custody bank said Wednesday in a regulatory filing.
Total revenue rose 13% to $4.0 billion and net income climbed 27% to $1.09 billion. The company reported no notable items in the quarter or the comparison periods.
Fee revenue increased 11% to $3.14 billion. Servicing fees rose 10%, management fees jumped 20% and foreign-exchange trading services gained 17% on record FX client volumes. Net interest income reached $864 million as net interest margin widened 16 basis points.
Client assets kept growing. Assets under custody and administration rose 15% to a record $59.2 trillion, and assets under management at its investment arm increased 16% to a record $6.3 trillion, both helped by higher markets and net inflows.
Chairman and CEO Ron O’Hanley said the quarter marked State Street’s 11th straight quarter of year-over-year positive operating leverage, excluding notable items. He also highlighted the company’s first Wealth Services mandate, won with a large U.S. registered investment advisor.
Pre-tax margin improved to 34.6% from 31.1%. Expenses rose 8% to $2.62 billion.
The company also noted its agreement to acquire the Santander CACEIS Latam securities services joint venture. Its CET1 ratio ended the quarter at 11.0%, down 0.3 percentage point from a year earlier, which State Street attributed largely to continued capital return and higher risk-weighted assets.
