Parsons CFO Matt Ofilos Resigns; Former Finance Chief George Ball Returns as Interim CFO
Parsons' chief financial officer is leaving, and the defense and infrastructure contractor is turning to a familiar face to fill the job in the meantime: George Ball, who ran its finances for 14 years and helped take the company public.
Matt Ofilos told Parsons on Oct. 23 that he will resign as CFO effective Nov. 6, 2026, to pursue another professional opportunity, according to an 8-K filed Wednesday. The company said his resignation is not the result of any disagreement over its operations, policies or practices.
A former CFO returns
The board appointed Ball as Interim CFO on Oct. 26, effective Nov. 6. Ball served as Parsons' CFO from 2008 to 2022 and joined the board after retiring from that role, the filing says. He will remain a director while serving as interim finance chief, but does not sit on any board committees.
In a press release attached to the filing, Parsons said Ball played an integral role in guiding the company's transformation and helped lead its 2019 initial public offering. He first joined Parsons in 1995 and held several financial and operational leadership positions before becoming CFO.
The board is conducting a search for a permanent successor, the release said.
Pay for the interim role
For his service as Interim CFO, Ball will receive a $2.4 million award of restricted stock units that vests on the one-year anniversary of the grant. The final number of units that vest will be prorated based on how long he actually serves as Interim CFO during that year.
He will not receive any additional cash or equity compensation for his board service while in the interim role, according to the 8-K.
What the CEO said
"I want to thank Matt for his leadership, partnership, and financial stewardship over the past five years," Chair, President and CEO Carey Smith said in the release. "We are pleased to welcome George back as Interim Chief Financial Officer."
Smith said Ball's understanding of the company, its customers and its strategic priorities would support an orderly transition.
Same-day results
The CFO news arrived the same day Parsons released third-quarter results. The company said in the release that it reaffirmed the midpoint and narrowed its fiscal 2026 revenue and adjusted EBITDA guidance ranges, and reiterated its operating cash flow guidance.
