Nvidia commits $1 billion over five years to U.S. science and quantum research
Nvidia will commit $1 billion over the next five years to advance super intelligence for science and quantum computing in the United States, the company said in an Oct. 8 announcement.
The money will go to support for the country's higher-education research institutions, investments aimed at accelerating American quantum leadership, and support for cloud service providers that serve U.S. government mission needs, according to the release.
Nvidia made the announcement at the Science: A New Golden Age event in Washington, D.C., where U.S. officials celebrated an expansion of the Genesis Mission, a federal science initiative in which Nvidia is a leading industry partner.

Nvidia said it is a collaborator on several of the phase 2 Genesis Mission awards announced at the event. Those include projects in quantum computing, fusion, accelerator design and microelectronics.
The company also pointed to its existing work with the Department of Energy. That includes building the department's largest supercomputer for scientific research at Argonne National Laboratory and supporting seven new systems across Argonne and Los Alamos national laboratories.
"With a $1 billion investment, NVIDIA is putting advanced Super Intelligence in the hands of America's scientists to accelerate breakthroughs in medicine, energy and materials," Chief Executive Jensen Huang said in the release.
