Microsoft plans more than $10 billion of Middle East cloud and AI spending through 2030
Microsoft plans to invest more than $10 billion in capital and operating expenses in the Middle East through 2030, the company said in a Sept. 23 announcement.
The spending is part of a new regional framework focused at first on Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Microsoft said it will expand cloud and AI infrastructure capacity across the region.
Connectivity
Separately, Microsoft plans to invest more than $400 million in subsea and terrestrial connectivity across the Middle East by 2030. The company said that spending will expand capacity and support its growing cloud and AI footprint in the region.
Partners and other pledges
Microsoft said it will deepen partnerships with governments and national AI organizations, naming HUMAIN, G42, QAI and the government of Kuwait.
The framework also includes a new digital resilience initiative, expanded data-protection and business-continuity commitments, and closer work with national cybersecurity authorities in the four countries.
Microsoft has operated in the Middle East since 1991, according to the post.
