Lear names finance veteran Jared Fedele as next CFO as Jason Cardew plans retirement
Lear is lining up its next finance chief well ahead of time. The auto seating and electrical systems supplier said Monday that Jared Fedele will become senior vice president and chief financial officer on March 1, 2027, succeeding Jason Cardew.
Cardew notified Lear on Oct. 13 that he would step down as CFO effective Feb. 28, 2027, according to its 8-K. He will then serve as a non-executive adviser to senior management until he retires on Dec. 31, 2027. The company's press release said Cardew is retiring after 34 years of service.
Who is next
Fedele, 45, currently serves as vice president of finance for Lear's Seating and E-Systems businesses, overseeing finance for both operating divisions. He previously ran worldwide financial planning and analysis from 2023 to 2025 and was CFO of the Asia Pacific region from 2018 to 2023, the filing shows. He joined Lear in July 2003.
"His appointment reflects the depth of leadership talent we have developed across Lear," President and CEO Ray Scott said in the release, adding that Fedele has led the company's response to priorities including tariffs.
The pay terms
Fedele's employment agreement sets an initial base salary of $750,000 with eligibility for Lear's annual and long-term incentive plans. If he is terminated without cause or leaves for good reason, he would receive severance of two times his salary plus target bonus and 24 months of health coverage.
During his advisory period, Cardew will earn $22,000 a month and will not be entitled to cash severance if his employment ends.
