Home BancShares Q3 2026 earnings: record $129.5 million profit, EPS $0.65, dividend up 15% from a year ago
Home BancShares earned a record $129.5 million in the third quarter, or $0.65 a diluted share, the parent of Centennial Bank said Wednesday after the market close. That compares with $123.6 million, or $0.63 a share, a year earlier and $119.3 million, or $0.59, in the second quarter.
The Conway, Arkansas-based lender framed the result as "bringing the company closer to a half-billion-dollar year." Adjusted net income, a non-GAAP measure, was also a company record at $129.1 million, up 7.9% from a year ago.
Total revenue came in at $288.4 million, up from $277.7 million in the year-ago quarter but down from $295.1 million in the second quarter as non-interest income slipped to $46.4 million. Net interest margin edged up to 4.53% from 4.51% in the prior quarter, helped by lower deposit and borrowing costs.
Expenses fell to $121.5 million from $135.5 million in the second quarter, which carried acquisition-related costs. That pushed the efficiency ratio down to 40.78% from 44.54%.
The balance sheet got smaller. Loans dropped $216.6 million in the quarter to $16.91 billion, with the community banking footprint posting a $255.7 million organic decline that was partly offset by $39.1 million of growth at Centennial CFG. Deposits fell to $18.76 billion from $19.11 billion.
Credit metrics moved in mixed directions. Nonperforming assets rose to 1.02% of total assets from 0.93% in June and 0.56% a year earlier, while net charge-offs eased to $2.1 million from $5.8 million.
"In banking some play the growth game. At HOMB, we focus on stability," Chairman John Allison said in the release.
The company returned cash on two fronts. It bought back 1.3 million shares, or $39.6 million of stock, and paid a $0.23 quarterly dividend, up 9.5% from the second quarter and 15% from a year earlier. Management hosts a conference call at 2 p.m. ET Thursday.
