General Dynamics has picked its next chief executive. The defense contractor's board elected President Danny Deep as CEO effective January 1, 2027, the company said in a regulatory filing Wednesday evening.
Deep will succeed Phebe Novakovic, who has been CEO since 2013 and currently also serves as chairman. She will become executive chairman of the board when the handoff takes effect.

"I am profoundly honored to be selected as the next CEO of General Dynamics," Deep said in the release. Novakovic called him "a highly skilled executive with rich operating experience."
Independent lead director Laura J. Schumacher credited Novakovic with "setting a clear strategic vision" and building "a strong and capable leadership team," and said the board looks forward to her continuing role with the company.
