Fortune Brands agrees to sell Fiberon decking for $160 million, flags up to $205 million more in impairment
Fortune Brands Innovations is selling its Fiberon composite decking business for $160 million in cash, and the exit is coming with another sizable write-down.
The maker of Moen faucets and Master Lock signed a definitive agreement Thursday to sell Fiberon to a subsidiary of Inteplast Group Corporation. Fortune Brands said in an 8-K that the deal triggers an additional non-cash impairment charge it estimates at about $175 million to $205 million.
That comes on top of a $221.2 million long-lived asset impairment the company had already recorded as of June 27, 2026, when its strategic review of Fiberon prompted a recoverability test. That earlier charge cut the carrying value of Fiberon's customer-relationship intangible by $71.3 million and its property and equipment by $149.9 million, within the Outdoors segment, according to the filing.
Fortune Brands said the sale came out of a comprehensive sales process tied to the strategic review. In its press release, the company said the move reflects "active portfolio management and capital allocation discipline" and is intended to concentrate resources on its highest-return opportunities.
The transaction requires regulatory approval and is expected to close within 60 days. Jefferies is the company's exclusive financial adviser and Sidley Austin is its legal adviser.
