Bank of America Q3 2026 earnings: $1.2 billion regulatory charge trims EPS to $0.91; adjusted $1.08
Bank of America earned $0.91 a share in the third quarter, down from $1.04 a year earlier, after booking a $1.2 billion charge to cover regulatory penalties, the bank said Wednesday in a regulatory filing.
Strip out that charge and adjusted EPS came to $1.08, ahead of last year’s $1.04. Net income was $6.9 billion, compared with $8.3 billion in the 2025 quarter; adjusted net income was $8.1 billion.
The charge stems from orders announced Oct. 13 by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and FinCEN. The bank said it consented to orders related to certain aspects of its Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money-laundering and sanctions compliance programs, and recorded a non-tax-deductible $1.2 billion expense to accrue for the civil money penalties.
Underneath, lending did the heavy lifting. Revenue rose 3% to $30.0 billion, and net interest income increased 8% to $16.4 billion on higher loan and deposit balances and fixed-rate asset repricing. Average loans grew 6% to $1.23 trillion, the 10th straight quarter of sequential growth.
Wall Street businesses were softer. Sales and trading revenue fell 5% to $5.1 billion as FICC dropped 17%, while equities rose 11%. Investment banking fees, excluding self-led deals, slipped 11% to $1.8 billion.
Wealth management grew: Global Wealth and Investment Management revenue rose 13% to $7.1 billion as asset management fees climbed 16%.
“While investment banking and sales and trading revenues were lower, commercial lending grew in every client segment,” Chair and CEO Brian Moynihan said.
