Bank of America adds former Dow CEO Jim Fitterling and ex-KPMG chief Bill Thomas to its board
Bank of America added two former chief executives of large global companies to its board on Wednesday: Dow's Jim Fitterling and KPMG's Bill Thomas.
The bank's board appointed both as directors effective immediately, according to a press release filed with an 8-K.
"We are pleased to welcome two seasoned CEOs, who join our Board after leading large, global organizations," Chair and CEO Brian Moynihan said in the release.
Who they are
Fitterling, 65, is executive chairman of Dow's board. He was Dow's chief executive from 2018 to 2026 and became board chair in 2020, and he previously served as Dow's president and chief operating officer. He has been on the 3M board since 2021 and was named its lead director in 2024, the release says.
Thomas, 58, was global chairman and CEO of KPMG International from 2017 to 2026, leading a network of 265,000 professionals across 143 countries. He earlier chaired KPMG's Americas region and led KPMG in Canada. Bank of America said he brings deep expertise in audit, accounting and financial reporting.
Lead Independent Director Lionel Nowell III said the appointments came out of the board's "longstanding, robust succession planning and board refreshment process."
