Amazon plans more than €16 billion of investment in Germany in 2027
Amazon plans to invest more than €16 billion, or about $18 billion, in Germany in 2027, the company said in an Oct. 20 announcement.
Amazon announced the plan at the Invest in Germany Summit, hosted by the federal government in Berlin. The money will go to data centers and AI infrastructure, the Amazon Leo satellite internet network, new logistics projects and a new production slate from Prime Video.
Cloud spending
About €4.8 billion of the total is planned to expand the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region, Amazon said.
Existing footprint
Amazon said it has invested more than €100 billion in Germany since 2010. It has created more than 40,000 permanent jobs there, including 3,000 at AWS, and built more than 100 sites.
The company is also opening a second robotics and AI research lab in Berlin.
Logistics
Amazon said it will finish modernizing fulfillment centers in Bad Hersfeld, Dortmund and Werne in 2027. Work in Koblenz, Pforzheim and Rheinberg will continue through 2028. A fulfillment center is opening in Zweibrücken this year, and a new one is being built in Könnern.
"We plan to invest an additional €16 billion in 2027," David Zapolsky, Amazon's chief global affairs and legal officer, said at the summit.
